[UPDATE] – VK9LAA is now confirmed. NOTE: Australia does not allow operations on 60M so VK9LAA will not be active on that band. They will also observe Australian power limits when using their KPA500 amplifiers.

[JULY 31] – W7YAQ, Bob and K7AR, Al will be active from the Beachcomber Lodge on Lord Howe Island, Australia from September 20 to October 4, 2023. They have requested the call VK9LAA although it is still pending – will update on that once issued.

Look for them to be active in the CQWW RTTY Contest in the multi op single transmitter category. Their equipment consists of two Elecraft stations. A DX Commander vertical, Butternut HF9V vertical, 160M inverted L, and pennant loop antenna for 160 receive will all be used.

QRV on 160-6M including 60M, and will be looking for stations that find the Pacific difficult to work such as western EU, east coast NA and east coast SA. Logs will be uploaded daily to Club Log. QSL via OQRS, LoTW, or W7YAQ.

[NEWS UPDATE] – Antennas are always a vital component of a successful DXpedition – perhaps second only to location in importance. Since our second DXpedition, in 2013, we have used vertical Moxon antennas on the 5 bands 20-10 with verticals for the lower frequencies. These antennas have served us well but have always been located ‘on the beach’ or within a few metres of it. This is not possible at VK9XGM. The location looks excellent, but we are on the edge of a relatively low cliff with no beach access. We are not sure regarding the terrain around the location, nor how much of it we can access, but feedback and images we have seen suggest boulders and scrub. We are not convinced that the Moxons will be a good choice for this location.

Nous ne sommes pas convaincus que les Moxons seront un bon choix pour cet emplacement.

[NEWS UPDATE] – CB0ZA plans are way underway. We are happy to announce a new addition to our team. Hal W8HC as decided to join us for our expedition. Hal bring a lot of knowledge and expertise for Dxpeditions.

First licensed in 1967 but didn’t became active as a DXer until the mid-1980’s. He is #1 DXCC Honor Roll with 350 entities confirmed and 10-band DXCC. Hal enjoys being on the DX side of the pileup participating in several DXpeditions over the past 11 years including: NH8S, VK9WA, K5P, VP6R, 3Y0Z and KL7RRC. In the past year he was on the K7K activation of Kiska Island, JW0A, 9G4X, VP5/W8HC, KH8RRC and one of the remote members of the recent VP6A Ducie DXpedition using the Radio in a Box (RIB) technology. In addition to DXpeditions, he has operated from several locations locations around the world including 6 CQWW Contests from 4X. Hal currently serves as the Secretary-Treasurer of INDEXA.. We are happy to have him on the team and welcome him.
