[MISE À JOUR] 5T3WW – Mauritanie

It was an exciting adventure with Johannes PA5X / 5T5PA, who hosted me at his station in Nouadibou, Mauritania. Never operated the SO2R before (except @K1TTT back in 2005, when I used N1MM for the last time and a single computer in RDXC), so that was a hell of an experience (failed though). Somehow I need to make the TX audio to stop, otherwise, it’s impossible to concentrate on RX. Just tried all the possibilities to shut down that “self-monitor” in Icom-9100 and failed.

We had rearranged the 5T5PA station for SO2R and used N1MM for software interlock (too late to find out that multipliers have a separate window, not just band map). The next achievement was creating an absolutely autonomous beverage system. Reception in the middle of the city was impossible. Noise levels well over S9. Solar charged, radio linked to the station. Used Flex 6300 with two BOG (the US – 300 meters and EU -200 meters). Both being twice partially stolen and restored (used transformer copper wire 0,5 mm). Too bad did not take into account the RF capabilities of Ubiquity. Most likely I blew the RX in the local part of the link and lost connection for the second and third nights. Couldn’t restore it, as the link was just too unstable. Something to work out in the next operations. Two verticals were added (40m and 80m on the remote building).

Thanks to everyone who gave me multipliers and jumped with me through the bands. Expert 1.3KFA-ATU was a good choice for a multi-station. Still need to learn to operate with both radios simultaneously. 5T3WW was a shock to some stations and almost every multiplier call was a nightmare. People just didn’t get used to being called by 5T..had to repeat several times even to those stations, which were already worked on the other bands.

The contest finished by 00:00 and by 05:00 everything was packed and after a small 600km ride, I was already in Nouakchott airport. Something went wrong with the airplane, which had an emergency landing in Morocco, being re-routed directly to Dakar, Senegal, and then picked us up in Mauritania on the way back after a slight 9 hours delay. So I missed my flight to Moscow.

The worse thing was that I needed to be in Siberia on December 2nd to get to my mom’s 70th birthday. Needless to say that after many polite conversations and re-routes I jumped to the Siberian plane 30 minutes before the departure. Just to be able to get back home to Moscow today. Phew…

Ce fut une aventure passionnante avec Johannes PA5X / 5T5PA, qui m’a accueilli dans sa station de Nouadibou, en Mauritanie. Jamais utilisé le SO2R auparavant (sauf
K1TTT en 2005, quand j’ai utilisé N1MM pour la dernière fois et un seul ordinateur en RDXC), donc c’était une expérience d’enfer (échoué cependant). Je dois faire en sorte que l’audio TX s’arrête, sinon il est impossible de se concentrer sur RX. J’ai juste essayé toutes les possibilités d’arrêter cet «auto-contrôle» dans Icom-9100 et j’ai échoué.

Nous avions réorganisé la station 5T5PA pour SO2R et utilisé N1MM pour le verrouillage logiciel (trop tard pour découvrir que les multiplicateurs ont une fenêtre séparée, pas seulement une carte de bande). La réalisation suivante a été la création d’un système de boissons absolument autonome. La réception au milieu de la ville était impossible. Niveaux sonores bien supérieurs à S9. Charge solaire, radio reliée à la station. Flex 6300 utilisé avec deux BOG (les États-Unis – 300 mètres et l’UE -200 mètres). Les deux étant deux fois partiellement volés et restaurés (fil de cuivre du transformateur utilisé 0,5 mm). Dommage de ne pas prendre en compte les capacités RF d’Ubiquity. Très probablement, j’ai fait sauter le RX dans la partie locale du lien et perdu la connexion pour les deuxième et troisième nuits. Impossible de le restaurer, car le lien était trop instable. Quelque chose à régler dans les prochaines opérations. Deux verticales ont été ajoutées (40 m et 80 m sur le bâtiment éloigné).

Merci à tous ceux qui m’ont donné des multiplicateurs et qui ont sauté avec moi à travers les groupes. Expert 1.3KFA-ATU était un bon choix pour une multi-station. Encore faut-il apprendre à fonctionner avec les deux radios simultanément. 5T3WW a été un choc pour certaines stations et presque chaque appel multiplicateur était un cauchemar. Les gens ne se sont tout simplement pas habitués à être appelés par 5T .. ont dû répéter plusieurs fois même sur ces stations, qui travaillaient déjà sur les autres groupes.

Le concours s’est terminé à 00h00 et à 05h00 tout était bondé et après un petit trajet de 600 km, j’étais déjà à l’aéroport de Nouakchott. Un problème est survenu avec l’avion, qui avait un atterrissage d’urgence au Maroc, qui a été redirigé directement vers Dakar, au Sénégal, puis est venu nous chercher en Mauritanie au retour après un léger retard de 9 heures. J’ai donc raté mon vol pour Moscou.

Le pire, c’est que je devais être en Sibérie le 2 décembre pour fêter le 70e anniversaire de ma mère. Inutile de dire qu’après de nombreuses conversations polies et réacheminements, j’ai sauté dans l’avion sibérien 30 minutes avant le départ. Juste pour pouvoir rentrer à Moscou aujourd’hui. Ouf…
